Human capital is one of the building blocks of society and has a substantial influence on competitiveness. Regions with a well-educated and highly-skilled workforce have a competitive advantage due to increased productivity and innovation. With an ageing population and changing labour market improving human capital through both education/skill development and growing our working age population through immigration will be imperative for NLs continued economic success. The NLEC lobbies for policies that improve the quality of education available to both children and adults, match education with labour market needs, and for immigration policies that help Newfoundland & Labrador businesses attract talent from abroad and to enable newcomers to integrate into our economy quickly.
