Congratulations to the 2014 Employers of Distinction - Worley Parsons and Technip!
Employers of Distinction demonstrate leadership in the community, productivity and innovation, and a fundamental belief in the value of a healthy, safe, and motivated workforce.
WorleyParsons delivers projects, provides expertise in engineering, procurement and construction, while offering a wide range of consulting and advisory services. They cover the full lifecycle; from creating new assets to sustaining and enhancing operating assets, in the hydrocarbons, mineral, metals, chemicals and infrastructure sectors. Their resources are focused on responding to and meeting the needs of their customers over the long-term and thereby creating value for their shareholders. Diligence in safety leadership is key to WorleyParsons, having implemented the philosophy of SAZ (Serious About Zero). This focus has resulted in 15 million person hours without a lost time incident on the Hebron Project. Their seriousness goes even further when examining their lost time incident frequency rate (0.02 per 200,000 hours), which is significantly lower than the industry average. Innovative practices are fostered through utilization of modern communication and collaboration. Their Intranet, “ONE” allows different teams, disciplines and committees to build their own collaboration page, which allows tracking, discussion of projects, online document libraries, blogs and shared calendars. The Innovation Incubator and Innovation Team was developed to research and implement staff submitted ideas deemed to have innovative merits. Commitment to the community is quite evident through an involvement in a variety of organizations including the Red Cross, the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Care Foundation and the United Way St. John’s. Senior management play an active role in the community, contributing to governance on a variety of boards including NOIA, Stella Burry and the United Way.

Technip’s countless social functions throughout the year are aimed at creating a sense of unity among staff, including casino night, a family skate and summer BBQ’s. All these initiatives are a major reason Technip has enjoyed extremely high retention rates over the past several years, including 91% in 2014. Technip has positioned itself to be a community leader, given their strong focus and commitment to charitable organizations across the province.
