The Employers’ Council is the only province-wide association representing employers and we utilize our influence to achieve our vision of a vibrant economy, shared prosperity and increased opportunity for the businesses and the people of Newfoundland & Labrador.

Membership in the Employers’ Council provides businesses, corporate entities and associations with many opportunities for growth, learning and input into the various policy decisions impacting employment, the tax environment and our economy.

Become a Member Today!

Membership is open to any employer, corporation, association, partnership, employer organization, crown agency, local government, individuals in all regions of the province carrying on business or profession that subscribes to the Aims and Objectives of the NL Employers’ Council. Organizations such as the Workplace Health, Safety and Compensation Commission, Labour Relations Agency, Provincial and Federal Government Departments, unions and employee organizations or organizations with union representation on their board of directors are not eligible for membership in the NLEC.

Required Contact Information

  • The “CEO Contact” is the eligible person who will vote in NLEC matters, including the election of the board of directors. This delegate must be the company CEO, owner or appropriate senior representative. Each member shall have only one (1) vote and the member cannot delegate or proxy voting rights to another member.
  • The “CEO Contact” will also be the name displayed in the membership list, , visible to other NLEC members. Contact information will not be displayed.
  • The CEO Contact will receive only a small number of select member communications, unless they are also designated as the “Administrative Contact”.
  • The “Administrative Contact” is the primary administrative/communications contact who is responsible for accurately maintaining member contact information and online profile including the member username and password, and will receive all member communications with the exception of those pertaining to voting.
  • Billing Contact – please complete if different than the administrative contact.

Additional Contact Information

  • Each member can have an unlimited number of “Additional Member Contacts” who also receive all member communications, with the exception of those relating to surveys and elections.
  • These contacts can be updated or revised in the member’s only section of the site at any time.
  • NOTE: It is the responsibility of NLEC members to ensure the accuracy of contact information provided to the NLEC. The staff of the NLEC shall work to ensure the proper person is receiving communication from NLEC and shall review the communication contact(s) with each member annually.

Membership Categories

Patron Membership – Our Patron Members are foundational and the true drivers of our organization. They hold strong beliefs that the future is bright for Newfoundland & Labrador and feel they can contribute to a strengthened economy.

  • An invitation to participate in two exclusive patron events annually.
  • Personal invitations to attend 4-6 CEO Roundtables.
  • Eligible to service on the Employers’ COuncil Board of Directors*
  • Have influence on the advocacy priorities of the organization
  • Receive recognition at all Emploer’s Council events, training, and the website.
  • Receive a 30% discount on all other services, training and events.

 

Classic Membership – This category represents the majority of our members. Your business shares the vision of the Employers’ Council and is keen to participate in providing input and guidance to shape our advocacy efforts.
Classic members receive:

  • The opportunity for the voting member to attend the AGM
  • Participation in Member Surveys and Advisory Committees as we seek your input on advocacy issues.
  • Seamless access to the advisory services through the NLEC website and a dedicated adviser on Workers Compensation and Occupational Health & Safety issues.
  • Member discount on training, workshops and select events.

* Must meet eligibility requirements as per Board Policy

Corporate membership – The category is designed for the senior leader within national and larger firms keen to become further engaged in the business community of the Province. You will be up close and personal with key thought leaders impacting policy and change as well as other senior business leaders in the community. Our CEO Roundtables have become sought after events where you can collaborate with like minded leaders and ensure issues are brought forward for consideration.
Corporate Members receive:

  • Voting member to be invited to the AGM and CEO Roundtable following the meeting
  • Regular personal invitations to 4-6 CEO Roundtables annually
  • Eligible to serve on the Employers’ Council Board of Directors *
  • Active participation in setting advocacy priorities
  • Exclusive sponsorship opportunities
  • Member rates for all other events and training.

 

Associate Members – Our associate members represent municipalities, public bodies, the not-for-profit Social Sector entities with more than 50 employees.
Associate member receive:

  • The opportunity to participate in Surveys and advisory committees on Workers Compensation, Occupational Health & Safety and other advocacy issues as they arise.
  • Access to the member only portal on the NLEC website where advisory services are accessed
  • Member discounts on workshops and training.
